Documenting Before Demolition

An editorial about exploring and documenting history. This comes from a forgotten (no posts since 2020) site of a Manitoba, Canada, explorer. I couldn’t find a name or anything like social media to help find who they are.

Some of you are aware that Canada has never been considered one of the best countries in the world to explore abandoned sites, due to Canada’s national policy for demolition projects of derelict buildings or converting derelict properties over to new owners, often into the hands of non-profit organizations.

For Lack of a Human Touch the World is Lost

In the medical field lack of human touch could save lives and yet cause some patients to lose hope or feel alone. Terminal patients need humans care and yet it’s not an easy job to care for someone as they die. Infants have failure to thrive listed as a reason for death. How much of that is just lack of human touch, a feeling of being cared for, wanted?… Read the rest

Speculative Fiction merging Non-fiction, History and Horror

Create a story, with some element of horror. An even that would give you nightmares, if it happened to you.

Don’t start with a family photograph. I think that would be a bit creepy, for you and your family. Find an old photograph, black and white works well for the dramatic effect. Also, anyone in the photograph is likely no longer living, if it really is an old photo.… Read the rest

A Haunted Tunnel in Ontario?

I haven’t seen this tunnel myself and I’m skeptical about anything being haunted. Still, having a history like this isn’t going to leave a place unmarked, or unremarked upon. Any old train tunnel is going to be dark and too many are unused these days. Not all of them have children crushed by rocks and trains colliding into each other.… Read the rest

Tired of Covid Vax Fanatics

The government, the media, and people who have had the “covid vaccine” continue to harass/ coerce/ force people to get the vax.

Vax is a good name for it, saves me typing out “vaccine” or “the vaccine”. I don’t believe it is a vaccine. The description of a vaccine had to be changed so this covid vax could qualify.… Read the rest

So Far I am Not Dying of Covid

People who test positive for Covid are sent home. No one calls an ambulance to take them to the emergency department or the isolation room in the hospital. No, they are left to their own devices, sent home in whatever mode of travel they used to get to the Covid test. No one even makes sure they got home ok, or are self isolating.… Read the rest

Dead People Can’t Buy Alcohol

Note: I do know there is a virus. But, there are a LOT of viruses we could be having a pandemic for. Bigger things could have been pandemics around the world: AIDs, polio, the flesh eating bacteria, SARs, swine flu, bird flu, and so many, many others – but they were downplayed. The public was told not to worry and just go on about their business.

Cemetery Photography from Big Paul

This post is originally from Big Paul, on his photography site which has gone offline. I had listed the link in the ODP (now Curlie) and I tried to find another source for the content, but other than a Flickr group, there was nothing else to be found. So I am reposting this post, about cemetery photography, from the original site, as an archive.… Read the rest

Simcoe County’s Haunted Past

Originally posted to the Barrie Advance – Oct 29, 2009. I don’t know who wrote it, the name wasn’t with the article when I found it. But, I wanted to keep the information saved and available.

Welcome to any one of countless chilling experiences from the numerous spooky locales across Simcoe County. These sites may seem innocuous during daylight hours, but once the sun dips below the horizon and shadows begin to stalk across the landscape they can take on a darker, creepier taint.
