Would you even guess this is a mousetrap? It’s vintage, from the 1930’s approximately. I first saw it on a video from Shawn Woods and then I went looking on eBay out of curiousity. Shawn Woods makes videos of how mousetraps actually work at catching mice. If you are especially squeamish or strongly against killing rodents, don’t watch. I think people have been trying to catch rodents, mice in particular, from the earliest days of deliberately planting anything with the idea of farming. You might think we should let all the urban wildlife live and, I’m not out to kill them all, but I … Read more
This is my current blogroll of writing links from WordGrrls. There are doubles because I re-add links fairly often. So far I haven’t found something which lets me know I already have a link on my blogroll. I also need to make time to check them for link rot. They should be fairly ok though. I do have a link checking plugin – when I run it on WordPress. 99U – Insights on making ideas happen A Way with Words – Radio A Word a Day A. Victoria Mixon A.K.A. Not often I like (or see the point) having models in urban exploration photography. This time it works. I like the piano too. Reposting from Flickr. (Yahoo was blocking the link to the photo. But it was available to download. So, something odd about the direct link).
How many scantily clad women have been abandoned this way? I found this photo via Flickr (the urban exploration group I moderate). Here are these women, posing in bikinis for their photo to appear on the cover of a publication. Is it something relevant to women in bikinis? Not so likely. But there it is… thrown out, discarded and forgotten about. Does it make you feel at least a bit sad? Urban (and rural) explorers find old pornography magazines at abandoned houses (and not just houses). Most of it is deteriorated due to weathering, animals, time, etc. I don’t know … Read more
Thomas Muther, Jr. is a frequent poster to the Flickr urban exploration group I moderate. He is pretty much the only nude male posing and – he is setting up the camera, posing and taking the photo on his own. His own model. As a woman moderating the group I’m glad to see Thomas posting his photos. Without him the group would feel very sexually biased to me. But, I do wonder what other group members think. Likely most of them are male. Most urban explorers are still male and most of the people coming to look at nude people … Read more
via – Naked Spelunking Adventure – ErosBlog: The Sex Blog. Like the urban exploration photos with naked people. Only this one is vintage and less posed than many of the modern photos. I like the look over her shoulder. I doubt any of her curves have been air brushed, or Photoshopped.
I had wanted (and tried!) to build an urban exploration directory of sites. I have experience building and maintaining a web directory, for years. But, I’m finding the project is too big and too vast to take on and build to my own standards of over-perfection. So, I am just working on a directory for Canadian urban exploration groups, photographers and resources. I am still adding other links but I’m not going to focus on them. I may turn some of the links into pages sorted by location. But, that is down the road somewhere.
I haven’t updated my own photos to my Flickr account (or the groups I started there) since 2013. I feel guilty, sort of. Mostly I think I just ran out of steam. I have still been taking photos. Getting them up online was a routine for awhile and then I got behind and more behind and then drastically behind. I still moderate at Flickr. I don’t login as often as I used to but I’m keeping the groups going. I like to see the new photos come in and (for the groups which I moderate for someone else) new photos … Read more
I made this as an ASCII art image for my site about urban exploration. The site is still being made into something. It isn’t much to see right now. Posting this for the A to Z Challenge.
