Is It Possible to Really Photograph a Ghost?

Has there ever been a photo which completely proves the existence of ghosts? I think it is sad that most photos, which people see ghosts in, can have simple explanations. But, does that mean they should be entirely discounted?

I read a post about photos of ghosts which the writer believes are creepy and proof of ghosts. I didn’t see even one photo or image which proves anything to me, not fully. Some are interesting, some questionable, tricks of light and perception, mistakes about when the photo was actually taken, and some are probably fakes.

This photo, from Australia, was taken in 1959. Its called "The Woman at Corroboree Rock". Do you see the image of a woman among the trees, leaves, light and shadow? I can see it, when I look for it.

I don’t think this photo is a fake. There is a possibility it was set up and configured to look like something was there, but just as likely it was random. What is there are leaves, shadows, a small log/stick on the ground, etc. I don’t believe its a ghost.

If that small log on the ground is the edge of her skirt, she is abnormally tall. Her face isn’t large enough for her body to be that long. Or, should we rethink and only look at what might be a face, hair and hands? The arm is oversized, but she could have been wearing puffy sleeves that day. Her hand is about the size of her face, she is out of proportion all over.

If you look to the left, I can see the face of a monkey. What else can you see if you look at this photo long enough?

Sorry ghost believers, but its just not enough for me to fully believe. I do feel a bit sad not to believe. I do feel those who believe in ghosts and want to prove their existence have a real uphill battle. One obstacle being people who question them and the other people who create fakes and try to fool everyone with them.

In the end, this is all about your perception and what you want to see or believe. If you are looking for something, chances are pretty good you will find it.

Some people sadly missed the point about #MasculinitySoFragile

What would have been a productive conversation on gender turned into an all-out Twitter war. Again.

The hashtag #MasculinitySoFragile was originally started yesterday to point out the failings of society’s views on masculinity — namely on how we expect men to suppress emotions and behaviors that we don’t deem traditionally “manly.”

This concept, called toxic masculinity, is one of the ways patriarchy affects men by setting up antiquated constructs that constantly tell them any kind of feminine gesture or instinct should be suppressed. It’s the kind of thing that leads to stereotyping and even acts of violence.

If you’ve ever told a guy to “be a man” or “man up,” that is exactly what reinforcing masculine stereotypes looks like.

So, people on Twitter created the hashtag to call out many examples of this concept that we see in our daily lives — including everything from subway ads to personal experiences.

However, some people were offended by the idea that masculinity could be called fragile at all and felt that the use of the hashtag was a personal attack on them as a group.

Many users started to commandeer the hashtag to lash out against those who were originally using it, with threats and insults — thereby proving the hashtag’s point, and the idea of toxic masculinity, in the first place.

The most important and sadly missed part of this hashtag is that many users pointed to some startling points that affect teens and LGBT people in particular.

Ghostly Sighs in Cemteries

<img class="size-full wp-image-36 aligncenter" src="http://strangeontario.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/cemeterysighs1.png" alt="" width="652" height="818" />I don't know if ghosts hang around cemeteries. I would think not. If you were deceased, there would be better places you could spend your time, if you were hanging around. But this illustration caught my attention today. Maybe a ghost would be sad, just about being not alive and not feel like being among the living. There have been stories about jealous ghosts, those jealous of the living. Not for any particular thing just the fact of being alive at all. So, ghosts might hang around cemeteries and graveyards. Maybe they would find friends there, those they had known before and those who they have things in common with now.

Doppelgangers and Seeing Yourself Reflected in the Mirror

Hearing about doppelgangers (someone who looks like you, a twin stranger) is less creepy than it would have been long ago. There are so many more people on the planet now, it doesn't seem so dramatic to see someone else who looks like you. I've been more creeped out looking at myself in the mirror. No wonder there are so many superstitions about mirrors, photographs and seeing your reflection in a window or a pool of water. Really seeing yourself is a bit weird.

It helps to be doing something and not focused on looking at yourself. We don’t really look at ourselves while using the mirror to put in eye drops, add cosmetics, or shave. It’s when you stop. There is that reflection, it moves when you move, it looks right back at you. Animals get very spooked by seeing themselves in mirrors. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

Take a real look at yourself in a mirror, or some other reflection. Store windows are good because you can see more than just your face. Seeing your whole self is eerie when you stop and really think about it. At that point, alone, do you dare test some of the old superstitions? Repeating a name in front of a mirror, challenging a ghost, demon or something to appear. Trying to look just over your shoulder, or from the corner or your eye to catch something hidden or lurking there. Could that quiet mirror be some kind of portal to another realm, just waiting for the right person to step closer, reach out and touch it. Why rock that boat. Just check your face, quickly, and move along.

Could Ontario Have Lake Monsters?

Few people haven't heard and considered an opinion about the Loch Ness Monster in Scotland. So far there isn't any concrete evidence, not enough that I fully believe there is something in that very deep lake. But, I don't not believe either. After all, why couldn't there be something not yet found or not yet proved.

What about all the lakes in Ontario? What might be in those lakes, other than the usual fish and plant life.

Fast forward a couple of years to 2010. Brian Smith of Indiana was in Olcott filming the Lake Ontario Pro-Am Salmon Team Tournament Series for his program “Angling the Great Lakes.” After filming out of Wilson and Olcott, it was time to relax at the cabin he was staying at in Olcott. It was going to be a beautiful sunset as he sipped on a beverage in the back yard, next to the lake. There was no wind. As he looked to the north, he could see a small wake being made by something in the water. He spotted a serpent-like head sticking up with a long body trailing as it maneuvered through the water. Whatever it was, it was more than 10 feet in length. It took a moment to register as he wondered what the heck it was. …

As he told the story while visiting with communities along the lake, there was one secondhand account that was told when he was in Oswego. Apparently, there was a diver who was inspecting large water intakes off a power plant there – a task that must be performed regularly. On one inspection, the diver witnessed something too scary to describe. A huge creature that startled him and created a personal panic. He vowed never to enter the waters of Lake Ontario again with his scuba gear on.Could there be unexplained animals lurking in Lake Ontario? It does have direct access to the ocean through the St. Lawrence Seaway and through the Hudson River and the Erie Canal.

Creepy Mirror Urban Legends – Weird Worm

Creepy Mirror Urban Legends

With the up coming Halloween season, the creepy stories will begin to surface. Who hasn’t heard of an urban legend or two? Every legend can have a bit of truth it. Even if you don’t completely believe in the legend, try it out and see if you don’t get to the point where the hair on the back of your neck or arms stands up. Some of the creepiest urban legends are done behind the closed doors of the small confines of your bathroom in front of the mirror and in complete darkness.

The Blue Baby Urban Legend

To execute this legend, you need to go into the bathroom, close the door and shut off the lights. This could possibly be enough to start the creepy factor, depending on how small your bathroom is and whether you are claustrophobic or not. The next step is to pretend that you are rocking a baby, while you chant the phrase “Blue Baby” thirteen times. They say a baby will appear and scratch you. When this happens you must drop it and run, because if you don’t a women will appear and scream loud enough to break the glass, “Give me back my baby!” If you are still found to be holding the baby, she will kill you. Are you brave enough to rock the baby?

The Bloody Mary Urban Legend

There are said to be two different versions of this urban legend. I am sure that either one will be enough to give you a good scare, if you should be so daring enough to give them a try when you are home alone and in the darkness of night.

The back story to this legend is pretty much the same. It tells the story of a girl who was thought to be dead, but she was buried alive. When she made the effort to escape the confines of her coffin, she couldn’t get out. When the parents realized that the girl might have indeed been buried alive, they dug up her grave to see that she had tried to claw her way out of her coffin.

The first way you can have Mary come and pay a visit to you is:

On a Friday the 13th turn off all the lights in your house. Make your way to the bathroom and turn on the water in the sink, as well as, the bathtub and flush the toilet. Then, look into your mirror and “Blood Mary” five times. She may just appear in the mirror and if she does you better turn on those lights real quick or she will stab you in your back.

The second way to conjure up a visit from Mary is:

You must be alone in the dark and in front of a mirror. While you say “Bloody Mary” three times, you must turn around in place. After the third time, she will appear behind you in the mirror and scare you half to death.

I guess there is more than one way to stir up a Bloody Mary.

The Candy Man

Be careful when asking the Candy Man to come for a visit, because if anybody can do it, the Candy Man can.

When you are in the bathroom, make sure to turn off all you lights. Look into the mirror and say the “Candy Man’s” name five times. Then you will see a pair of red glowing eyes appear staring back at you. As soon as you see those creepy eyes, you must turn on the light and run to the brightest spot in your house, because if you don’t do it, he will come through the mirror and kill you.

The Lady in White

Are you missing a loved one? Well The Lady in White urban legend gives you a way of seeing them again.

Enter your bathroom alone and turn off the light. Turn around five times and utter the phrase “Lady in White.” Turn the opposite way and say the name of your deceased loved one. They will appear in the mirror after you say their name.

Not a bad way to catch up on old times, huh?

Now, that you know the proper ways of executing these urban legends, try them out and see if you can scare yourself enough to believe in them.
