Have you ever seen a birthday card for someone already deceased? I don't mean so recently that people still have a memorial sort of birthday for them. What about when it is your Father, long gone.

Today is my Dad's birthday. I forget how long ago he died, it has been about 15 years, possibly more. I can't give him a pretty or funny card. I didn't find any wise or witty quotes. Not a single birthday card found for the deceased.

Has no one else ever thought of this? I will see what I can think of. Nothing brilliant so far.

What would you write, draw, create as a birthday card for family or friends long dead?

Create your own haunted house.

Plan the layout, the type of rooms, the design and colours. Write about the street appeal and what people see, hear, smell and sense from out on the street.

Then, create the monster living in the house, the surprise in the centre of the maze of rooms and storytelling. What happened to create this monster and what will happen in the future? Do things get better or worse for your monster in your haunted house?

Thanks to the wonders of science we now have teleportation, much like the old Star Trek series. A beam of light moves people nearly instantly from one place to another. Halfway around the world and back again in less than a minute - if you want to accept the risk of scrambling your brains. There are warnings posted about over use and the effects on the human mind. But, everyone ignores the warnings and charges in to be the first to try something new.

When you get to the head of the line you are asked where you want to go. So, where do you want to go, first? You can't travel in time, yet, but anywhere on the planet (as long as you can breathe when you get there) is open to you. Stay as long or as little as you like, your return pass is not dated.

Expat Women - Helping women living overseas.

Would you move to another country, another part of the world with a different culture, maybe a different language from your own even? Some women do. Some women in fiction travel even farther. How would it be to live in the fairy realm, another planet, or some civilization built around our own but hidden from the ordinary human eye? I think women in this situation would have the same kind situations and difficulties as women expatriates.

Do you agree, or disagree? Does your opinion reflect your gender? Do men ever feel threatened with bodily harm, assault, torture, sexual violence or death on an average day?

My Dad and my brother both make light of anything like this. Women are over reacting, being silly... but the fact is that a woman does not feel safe out in the world and it's not because of other women.

When you write about fear, what do you draw on? I draw on my feelings at the times I have been assaulted, molested and/ or attacked. It does make me wonder what men have to draw on when they write about fear. Do they have any real experience or is it all based on stuff they have seen on TV? Isn't it handy then, that there are so many movies and TV shows where women are attacked so men will have something both entertaining and educational to have some understanding of what it feels like to be afraid for your life.
