Green Living Romance

Get out there and plant a tree together. Best of all if it is in your own yard so you can see it grow over the years. If a tree isn't your style pick up a package of seeds and give them room to grow.

Take a walk or go for the speed and use rollerblades or bicycles.

Massage or just sit together close and snuggle.

Give yourselves a staycation. Plan ahead for cooking at home, sharing some pampering and together time.

Take a bath together. Bring out the great scented soaps and shampoos. You can each bring a book to the tub if you want to keep it PG.

Don't buy chocolates, bring the chocolate home and bake something together. You get couple time and the satisfaction of having tried something new.

Bone China Bouquet: Delicate and Romantic

I collect bone China bouquets. They are delicate, fragile and romantic.

I started collecting bone China posies when I inherited a small white bowl with three coloured roses in it. I have always had a romantic side and I like history and anything vintage. I loved the China flowers from my Aunt Sally, my Grandmother's sister. I kept them, just a collection of one, for many years.

Then I noticed one in a thrift store. It was larger than mine at home. It also had a variety of flowers: carnations, a violet and the roses too. It had one flower which was an unusual orange sort of colour. I bought it for a dollar.

It was a bit dirty and had two flower petals chipped off at the tips. I put it in a sink of soapy, warm water. Let it soak awhile. I've heard that's a good thing for any kind of China, otherwise it can dry out, especially if it's not being used and washed regularly.

I set it out to dry out well after the washing. I tipped it on different angles to be sure any water had drained out. Having it tipped lets you make sure it won't have water left inside which could gradually drain out and become mould when it's displayed on a shelf. It's not a bad idea to put something under your knickknacks to be sure it can drain and dry out - when it has a hollow inside.

Hunting for Bone China Posies

This morning we are going to the thrift store, on the hunt. It's a big sale day and there are (or were) two large sized bone China posies in the display cabinet earlier this week. I'll get them, if they are still there and if they are in good shape. Today the thrift store has a 75 percent off sale for it's ten year anniversary. So, if they are there, it will be quite a sale price. If they aren't there, I would have liked to at least see them, but I do have enough of them, realistically.

It’s Always a Great Time for New Sheets!

Originally posted to Sex Kitten.net.

You want to impress a woman… ?

Get practical in a romantic, sexy way with a luxurious set of bed sheets.

This isn’t something you do for your first date or a woman you hardly know. That would be too intimate. Bedding is very intimate, it’s where you live when you’re asleep or not feeling well or hiding away from the world awhile.

These sheets are boldly colourful and soft to the touch. Not every woman (or man) would like these sheets. I love them! I love the colours and the softness of cotton and flannel sheets. My sheets are all soft cotton or flannel. Getting into bed is a pleasure even when I’m too tired to notice, I still notice how nice it is to get into bed.

Sheet sets are not cheap. If you spend too little you will get what you paid for. Cheap sheets can be pilly, tear after being in the wash a few times or get kind of starchy feeling after the first few washes. Not nice. Shop at a good store. Here in Canada The Hudson’s Bay store is still one of the higher quality stores (the antidote to WalMart). If you don’t know about fabric and bedding talk to the sales people at the store. Get advice, get the facts and make a good decision before you buy.

Pick a great colour. Avoid patterns, only because people can be much pickier when patterns are involved. Plain (solid colour) sheets are less complicated and make a bolder statement too. Of course, I make an exception for polka dots, but not every woman/ man does.

The Romantic Movie Where you Buy your own Date

A romance isn't really a romance unless the damsel is thoroughly and properly rescued. Every good romance movie has that moment where the guy stands up for the girl. He takes her side and stays there, having her back. It gives me that warm feeling every time. That one moment is what keeps a good romance from being just a sappy movie.

Dermot Mulroney shines in this movie, as the guy who sticks by his woman, takes her side and doesn't back down when she needs to be told she's wrong either. He is no wimp. He does have a sexy smile you won't soon forget either.

I've watched this movie three times: once in the movie theatre when it was new and twice since then when I noticed it on TV. I'd still watch it a fourth time if it were on tonight.

The end question is... who would you buy as a date for a wedding (or just a date of your choosing)?

Kat, hires a man she has never met before to be her date for a wedding. Nick, an escort for hire, turns out to be worth all she pays. He looks good, he speaks well and there is something very leading man about him even when he is just paid to be there - you feel he actually does want to be there. There is more to the story of course, Turns out Kat's ex boyfriend is at the wedding. She wants him back. But, there's a little secret Kat's friends have been keeping from her...

In the end it all works out and Nick (Dermot Mulroney) stands by his woman.

If you could hire a really great guy to be your date for a family function... would you?

  • Of course not, I'm already married/ with a really great guy.
  • No, I can barely ask a guy out on a regular date.
  • No, he wouldn't be a "nice" guy if he can be paid for that way.
  • Yes, I might.
  • Yes, I'd be tempted to show off a great catch, just for once.
  • Yes, it could be fun and only one day after all.

Vintage and Modern Art: Love Is...

The original, vintage Love is... drawings were created by a woman to the man she loved. They later married, in May 2011.

The new Love is... has all the love, happiness and spark of mischief which the old Love is... is missing. This is likely because the original artist hasn't been drawing the cartoons for many years. It was taken over when her husband (the man she loved) died and she stopped drawing the cartoons.

If you loved the old Love is... cartoons in the 1970s take a look at HJ Story, the Love is... cartoons for the new century. He has a Deviant Art page which gives more of his story, their story.

The History to the Vintage Love Is... Couple and Illustrations

The Love Is... drawings were created by New Zealand artist, Kim Grove, as a series of love notes in the late 1960′s for Roberto Casali. They later married but Roberto became ill with terminal cancer and Kim stopped working on the cartoons in 1975. Roberto died in 1976.

Since 1975 the cartoons have been drawn by Bill Asprey.

My own photo of a Love Is... glass I found at the local thrift store.
