Few people haven't heard and considered an opinion about the Loch Ness Monster in Scotland. So far there isn't any concrete evidence, not enough that I fully believe there is something in that very deep lake. But, I don't not believe either. After all, why couldn't there be something not yet found or not yet proved.
What about all the lakes in Ontario? What might be in those lakes, other than the usual fish and plant life.
Fast forward a couple of years to 2010. Brian Smith of Indiana was in Olcott filming the Lake Ontario Pro-Am Salmon Team Tournament Series for his program “Angling the Great Lakes.” After filming out of Wilson and Olcott, it was time to relax at the cabin he was staying at in Olcott. It was going to be a beautiful sunset as he sipped on a beverage in the back yard, next to the lake. There was no wind. As he looked to the north, he could see a small wake being made by something in the water. He spotted a serpent-like head sticking up with a long body trailing as it maneuvered through the water. Whatever it was, it was more than 10 feet in length. It took a moment to register as he wondered what the heck it was. ...
As he told the story while visiting with communities along the lake, there was one secondhand account that was told when he was in Oswego. Apparently, there was a diver who was inspecting large water intakes off a power plant there – a task that must be performed regularly. On one inspection, the diver witnessed something too scary to describe. A huge creature that startled him and created a personal panic. He vowed never to enter the waters of Lake Ontario again with his scuba gear on.Could there be unexplained animals lurking in Lake Ontario? It does have direct access to the ocean through the St. Lawrence Seaway and through the Hudson River and the Erie Canal.

The following is cut and pasted from an abandoned site, on Tripod. I would have reposted more newsletters, but I only found two.
Welcome, to The STRANGE TRAVELER
Hi. I'm Fred, the Robin Leach of haunted castles, alien landing fields, mystical monoliths and really cool bars. You have just stumbled into the only travel Website on the Internet that takes a "Twilight Zone" approach to vacation planning. This is how it works: First, dim the lights. Stare deeply into your computer screen. Then imagine you are in the black-and-white world of early 1960s television, sitting in a AAA travel office filled with happy brochures on Disneyland, the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. Suddenly, you realize that the terse, thin-lipped agent marking up your TripTik is actually Rod Serling, host of "The Twilight Zone" and one of modern society's first supernatural tour guides. In your head, you hear his clipped, dramatically inflected words offering guidance in your search for vacation ideas that don't center on theme parks, relatives or all-inclusive resorts: "You're traveling through another dimension - a dimension not only of sight and sound, but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's the signpost up ahead. Your next stop ...Alton, Illinois." Or Pascagoula, Mississippi. Or Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Paris, Roswell, Loch Ness, the Nazca Plain, Stonehenge, Area 51, The Queen Mary or that spooky old house everyone whispered about in the neighborhood you grew up in. The Strange Traveler thinks vacations should be more than sunscreen and lengthy discussions about where to eat dinner. Your travel tales should make jaws drop around the office water cooler, and widen the eyes of fellow parents on the T-ball sidelines. You see, the world is filled with Strange Travel possibilities: destinations reputed to be haunted, cursed, charmed, visited by aliens, inhabited by monsters, worshiped by strange cults, or infested by vampires, faeries and zombies. Some of these places are the doorways to true mysteries. Others are heavily hyped tourist traps. Most have overnight accommodations, lots of local color, and at least one decent bar. That's where The Strange Traveler comes in. This Website and its newsletter are your tour guides to bizarre, out-of-the-way destinations. This e-zine both guides readers to strange places they can visit, and advises them of the supernatural undercurrents flowing beneath traditional getaways. Travel Advisories

Veronica Mars is like Nancy Drew for the cell phone age.
I began watching the TV series when it was new on TV. I liked it. But, as often happens with TV, I just wasn't home enough to see it and when I was there I couldn't find it on. So I have a scattered idea of the storyline. But, I have been looking forward to seeing it all run again so I could catch up and fill in the gaps. I was glad to see the movie get a chance. Young women need a stand up type of heroine to be a good trailblazer!
Who is Veronica Mars?
Veronica Mars continues to have adventures, sleuth around and generally get into and out of trouble.
Kristen Bell stars as Veronica Mars in the TV series created by Rob Thomas. The original TV series ran from 2004 to 2007. After the third season it was cancelled. But fans (who call themselves Marshmallows) wanted the story and the characters back. A KickStarter campaign raised the funds and support for Veronica Mars to be continued as a movie.
- Where: the fictional and affluent town of Neptune, California.
- Who: Keith and Veronica Mars
- When: 2004 and ongoing
- What: the murder of Lilly Kane
- Why: isn't that always the best question and the least likely to have an answer?
In the TV series Veronica's best friend is murdered and Veronica makes friends and enemies as she is determined to figure out what happened to Lilly Kane. Veronica's Father (Keith Mars) is the county Sheriff but is removed from office and starts up his own private investigations firm. He gets cases and Veronica often helps. Of course, the TV series includes all the regular high school stuff with dating, jealousy and making your place in the world.
The movie was released as an update on the life and times of Veronica Mars. Now she has graduated law school and about to move on with her career, an interview with the FBI. But, she is pulled back to her old home town when her on and off again boyfriend, Logan, is accused of murder, Veronica only plans to make sure he is getting good help but once she starts looking around things just don't see right and next thing Veronica is on the case!
You can also begin reading the series of Veronica Mars books, also from Rob Thomas. The books continue the story of Veronica after the movie. You won't see Kristen Bell but you can imagine her in the pages of the book.
Mars Investigations
There have been all kinds of private detectives, investigators and amateur sleuths in fiction. It would be hard to come up with a completely new character. But, if that were your challenge... what can you come up with?
How Stuff Works: How Private Investigators Work
It's too much of a stretch to create a private detective as a baby. Though it would be interesting to work out the bugs on that idea, it just seems too much to expect a baby to get around well enough to get the job done. Not to mention the language barrier.
So my idea for a new detective is a teenager, a girl but not at all the Nancy Drew type. This girl is into body art and dresses all in black. People tend to cross to the other side of the street to avoid her. She's actually very clever but hides it, not wanting to look geeky to her friends. Some how she gets wrapped up in a mystery to help a friend or neighbour.
Invent your own detective, give it a try.
