The Holidailies - Month Long Daily Blogging Project

This link was originally found and posted in December, 2007.

Just came across the Holidailies while looking at blogs in the Thursday 13. Too late to join it this year but maybe I will remember about it for next year.

Description on the site from this year (2026). Site is still online but not very active looking now. It was a nice idea but I guess there are so few personal sites online now, far less people to join and contribute.

Welcome to the 26th annual Holidailies project, a free community writing project that promotes sharing your writing and other online creative endeavors during the winter holiday season.

Holidailies 2024 participants try to update their personal websites consistently perhaps even daily from December 1, 2025 to January 1, 2026. If you want to join us, all you need is a blog (hosted on your own domain or by sites such as Wordpress, Blogger, LiveJournal or Tumblr) and the time/desire to create and share website content with us for a month.

As a participant, you can write or post your own photos/audio/video about whatever you like on your existing website, then post the link here on the Holidailies portal. The newest entries display first.

Holidailies draws participants from all over the world, from a variety of ages and walks of life, covering a wide range of interests. Some participants share stories about their daily life, others write in themed blogs about everything from hiking to homeschooling, from knitting to alternative lifestyles. Some write about Christmas, some about Hanukkah, and some about ways to avoid the holidays as much as possible.

Since then they have started Horrordailies and Thingdailies:

About Horrordailies

Welcome to the 10th annual Horrordailies, a free community blogging project where all participants commit to writing and sharing horror-related topics on their blogs every day. Participants can write about horror-related topics, post reviews of horror movies, classic horror movie posters, post original horror fiction, and more.

... and desire to post something horror or Halloween related to our site regularly throughout the month.

As a participant, you can write or post your own photos/audio/video about whatever you like on your existing website, then post the link here on the Horrordailies portal. The newest entries display first.

About Thingadailies

Welcome to the eleventh annual Thingadailies, a free community crafting project where all participants commit to making one thing every day during the month of February, and sharing / talking about it on their blogs. What "thing" each person makes is entirely up to them. Some participants may decide to make a variation on the same thing every day, while others may switch it up from day to day or week to week.

... and the time/desire to create one new thing a day and share website content with us for a month.

As a participant, you can write or post your own photos/audio/video about whatever you like on your existing website, then post the link here on the Thingadailies portal. The newest entries display first.

Flake Appreciation Day - December 18th

This is the day before my birthday and I've never heard about it before (as far as I can remember). I really like snow and snowflakes. It's a nice discovery. :)

Upcycled Toilet Roll People Greeting Cards

Snowmen greeting cards created with marshmallows and candy. But, I'd have more fun making them as a toilet roll version. An upcycled version with things from the recycling bin. I'm going to start saving finished toilet paper rolls and other bits and pieces and see what I can come up with. Everyone needs a project.

Walpurgisnacht – April 30th

Walpurgis Night is the English translation of Walpurgisnacht, one of the Dutch and German names for the night of 30 April, so called because it is the eve of the feast day of Saint Walpurga, an 8th-century abbess in Francia. In Germanic folklore Walpurgisnacht, also called Hexennacht (Dutch: heksennacht; literally "Witches' Night"), is believed to be the night of a witches' meeting on the Brocken, the highest peak in the Harz Mountains, a range of wooded hills in central Germany between the rivers Weser and Elbe. The first known written occurrence of the English translation "Walpurgis Night" is from the 19th century.
