10 Texts You Can Send to Make Her Day

  • I'm giving you a massage tonight.
  • Just thinking about how gorgeous you are.
  • I. Love. You.
  • I want to kiss you all over.
  • I'm picking you up after work.
  • The rest of the evening is a surprise.
  • What I would give to be holding you right now.
  • You're incredible. In case I haven't told you that lately.
  • I'm still thinking about how radiant you looked this morning.
  • You are the sexiest woman I've ever known.
  • I adore you.

I know you can do better than my list and I want to help all the hapless men out there whose idea of a sexy text is: "What r u up 2? LOL."

via Dear Men, Here Are 10 Texts You Can Send the Woman in Your Life Right Now to Make Her Day - xoJane. (The link is broken now).

Why does romance have to be dead? I can remember being at work and imagining I had someone who would send me a note like this. That was before mobile phones so, of course, my note would have been delivered along with flowers (or in person).

On the other hand... I was a client in an office when a full bouquet of flowers were delivered to one of the men there. They were from his girlfriend, not for any special reason. I've never forgotten how touched he was, even a little emotional.

So, romance is not dead and romance is not just for men or women to be the givers. Anyone in love can instigate some romance. For no special reason at all. Just show them they are special - that's the reason.

Just a Little Anti-Thanksgiving

As the oldest of four kids, Thanksgiving was my least favourite holiday. I did like having the family come from all over Ontario, something I appreciate much more now that I am older.

My dislike of Thanksgiving was not for any of the popular political/ soapbox reasons about natives and the New World or even the mass killing of turkeys... I didn't like all the extra work and the arguing and the fact that we spent most of the day and the day before making pies, homemade bread, all those vegetables and then it was all over (for the men) in about 20 minutes.

For the rest of us, myself and my Mother and my Grandmother, there was another hour of clean up. My brother would help sometimes - he surprises me every family holiday now because he is the first one up helping to clean up and serve the dinner, every single time. My two sisters were very little help. Sure, they had the excuse of being younger, but they could have done more. Ironically, one of my sisters now says she always helped and I was the one who did nothing. Yet, somehow I remember peeling apples for pies and she was never there. I remember mashing potatoes, washing dishes, setting the table... no sister visible.

More than siblings, I resented the men at Thanksgiving. Not my Grandfather, because he would pitch in a bit and he would have helped more if we had asked him. But, he seemed to have a pass on the work, an old traditional kind of guy and a quiet guy too. I mostly would be angry with my Dad. He would sit back, doing nothing and lord it over as if he were king of the castle and never had to lift a finger. Maybe that was the big difference in how I felt, his attitude. My Uncle would be there too, he would bring plates out and mostly clear the table. But most years he was too full to do much and happy to watch TV with the other men.

In the kitchen, that's where Thanksgiving always seemed to be for me. We would be washing dishes before dinner, and again after dinner. Putting turkey and cabbage rolls and all those vegetables into serving dishes and platters and then putting all the leftovers into storage containers. Hours of time making pies and homemade bread. Some years we made apple strudel too, from scratch just like the bread and pies. My Mom and I worked together all Thanksgiving Day.

When my Grandmother (and sometimes my Aunt) came over they joined in. We talked about family history, people I had only met once (that I could remember) in my life. There was gossip too. But there really wasn't much conversation. We talked about what we were doing mainly, how to make the bread right. There were always instructions, especially for me, being the youngest and newest member of the baking/ cooking crew. My sisters, by almost never being there, missed out.

You may read this and think this isn't painting an anti-Thanksgiving picture. But, that wasn't how I felt about the baking and cooking with my Mother and Grandmother. I did like that part. I participated every year. Sometimes I would get impatient with being overloaded with instructions, as if I didn't already know what I was doing. Sometimes I would become the topic of conversation and hear about everything I should be doing and thinking differently. As aggravating as that would be, I've come to understand it was well meant.

I'm less anti-Thanksgiving these days because of my brother. Isn't it funny how life moves back on itself? I was so angry about being left with the women working while the men watched TV as if that was all they had to do all day (it pretty much was all they did as far as I could see). I could never understand why men were allowed, even expected, to be so useless and yet (in the case of my Dad) so critical too. He would criticise everything I did, as I got older I would try to not be there and do less. Then he would accuse me of hiding to avoid work. Of course, he didn't have to hide to avoid work.

Anyway, my brother is different. I don't know how or when it happened. He could have grown up to be a TV watching on Thanksgiving, like his Dad. But, he didn't. It wasn't while we grew up, he did help some but not the way he really pitches in now. I can go to his house for Thanksgiving and it can be me that does nothing but watch TV. I'm still kind of amazed by this every time.

So I'm less anti-Thanksgiving but it will never become one of my favourite holidays. What do you really think and feel about Thanksgiving in a personal way? Most people talk about the natives and old history that doesn't affect most of us personally. For me that's not what Thanksgiving is about. It's not about the culling of turkeys, the native peoples or religion and being thankful to any god. Thanksgiving is about family, the good, the bad and the ugly, all part of a pack of people working together one way or another.

Politically Based Anti-Thanksgiving

Why Complicate Thanksgiving with Old News?

I don't really understand the point of the politically based anti-Thanksgiving theme. Why do people need to bring old history into a family holiday? Thanksgiving is a day to be thankful for the things we have, each of us, individually or as a family.

I know negative people and I know people who take on the woes of the world as if they were responsible for all of them, even though they could never have been in all those places at the same time. I don't understand this way of thinking. You will never change everyone and even to try is breaking your own rules for everyone having freedom of thought and expression. So, why keep flogging a dead horse?

Enjoy Thanksgiving for what it is. Why make it so complicated with old news? I'm not going to take responsibility for something done before I was even born. I'm not going to drag religion into a holiday when I haven't been inside a church in at least 10 years. I'm also going to eat turkey, guilt-free. I like meat. I don't like tofu.

If you don't like Thanksgiving and refuse to celebrate the holiday - do it for your own reasons.

Replying About Wicca

I haven't written much about Wicca and Paganism for awhile. I got settled in and knew my own thoughts and just left it at that. But, I feel good to be posting ideas and sharing them. I left (maybe too many) comments on a YouTube video What is Wicca?.  I liked the video and found a lot of people asking questions as I read the comments. So, I began adding replies. Here they are, without the original question, but I don't think that will make a big difference.

I  enjoyed your video. I've been Wiccan for about 30 years, always solitary. We follow pretty different paths but the core of your feelings about what what Wicca and Paganism are very much mirrors the way I have always felt. It comes from within yourself, it is very individual but based on caring for the world and the planet and putting effort into them. Saving our home, in a nutshell.

I did think it was odd when you began speaking about Wicca as a way to feel better about death. For me it is about appreciating life and death is just part of that cycle. I just turned 50 a bit more than a month ago and time/ age is on my mind more than ever before really. But, I don't worry about what happens so much as not wanting the journey to end.

Anyway, I don't believe in spellwork because at some level it seems to be against harming none. To make a change which effects someone else (which even changes to yourself will effect others) is in some way causing harm. The spell part of Wicca has always been mildly aggravating to me because it does get abused, like a get rich quick scheme rather than people taking responsibility, putting in the time and learning how to get what they need without a crutch, or gimmick or just expecting the world somehow owes them a favour.

Too much commenting now. But, I did say "Thank you!" out loud when you said Wicca not all about spells. I do wish more people would look past spells and see what really is here and inside themselves. What real power they have without gimmicks, tricks, etc.

About Covens

That's pretty much why I never joined a coven. I would have had to compromise what I feel and believe in so I could fit into what the consensus of belief was with the group. I call myself an Earth Witch but I'm also an Atheist. I'd never be able to fit into any coven and people in covens would not like or accept what I feel/ believe.

However, I do think the weakness of Paganism as a religion is not having a consensus of beliefs. It leaves us without a firm identity in common and we do be come a target of other "organized" religions and their believers. Pagans in covens stand together almost like Christians because they do have that agreed upon system of beliefs and expectations. So, in that way it isn't a bad thing.

About Meditation

Meditation is kind of like prayer in the way it can focus your mind on what is important and help you pull your energy together to accomplish whatever it is you choose as your goal.

About the Masons

The masons are really cool. I think that's part of what makes me really appreciate rocks and old buildings.

About the Inverted Pentagram

Make your own decision. I feel strongly against the inverted pentagram and ouija boards. You're bringing something into your life which you may not want.

For Someone Who has Lost Track

Work on making yourself stronger and happier. You can't help someone else, or yourself, if your own life is at a low ebb. Spend time with people who are positive and strong so you can learn to be positive and strong too. You have to actually look in the direction you want to go. Great advice for driving a car and steering your course through life too.

About Pagan Books

I especially like reading from Doreen Valiente and Marian Green. Also: Practical Solitary Magic Paperback by Nancy B. Watson. Keep reading, make notes about what you find and feel and what you really believe in and connect with. I even wrote notes in my books. It felt strange to mark them at first but then I began to feel I was making myself at home in the pages.

About Fitting Into Wicca

Don't try to make Wicca right for you. It's not like joining a special club. Read about religions, faiths and beliefs and find what you actually connect to. You will connect somewhere and it will be right for you when you find it. Don't stress about finding it or being Wiccan. Wicca should suit you - not the other way around. Hope you understand because it can feel so wonderful when you discover the right fit for you - even if it is not Wicca.

About Choosing Wicca When Parents Don't Agree

Essentially Wicca is about appreciating life and nature. Your parents can hardly think you are going to hell or be upset if you spend more time outdoors and have those qualities. Christians are supposed to care about life and nature too. Don't upset your parents with Wicca - that's not the point of it. When your life is more your own then you can do more things on your own and in your own way. Don't make Wicca a dividing wall. You can be Wiccan if you want to be and you don't have to prove it to anyone by flaunting it or buying stuff or even having rituals. Keep it to yourself and experience it without the extra trimmings for awhile. No harm in that.

Probably arrogant to quote yourself, but sometimes I like to remember what I thought at the time and how I said/ typed it.

(Kinda) Hot Flash Fiction Friday: When Gracie and I Meet (Continued)

Originally posted to Sex Kitten.net.

I know you want to read that Gracie and I made out. Gracie even expects that’s what we should write and pretend that happens. It wouldn’t happen that way, not outside of fantasy. I’ve been through the questioning what I like thing and I like men, men who obey with a smile. Not a sissy smile but a knowing smile. So, no, Gracie and I will not get together and make out like cyber bunnies.

We would talk. We do have some…. interesting conversations online. We talk about men, sex, feminism, online dating, BDSM, fetishes and we talk about regular life and stress and running websites and how are tricks?

Gracie and I don’t agree about everything. She’s been annoyed with me and I’ve been politely Canadian to her.

Do men really think women just talk about men and sex, or is that just wishful thinking?

Some of our best conversations, about sex and related things, have been about fetishes. Gracie, being the actual professional and myself being more of a hobbyist, we don’t have the same perspective but we do find most of the same things funny.

“Gracie, what do you really think about sex with dogs?” I ask. It was a serious question. I’m not a dog lover but I have to admit the fetish interests me as a fantasy.

“You’re not doing it with my dogs.” Gracie says.

“I wasn’t asking. Besides, I’m allergic to animals and I really don’t like dogs. I don’t think the fantasy would work out so well in reality. Dog slobber… ick!”

Gracie doesn’t reply for awhile. Possibly she has gone for a cigarette break. I don’t smoke, I just make coffee. So I type in a “gone for coffee” note and then forget to actually go make the coffee while I check email. Sure enough, Gracie is back before I’ve read much email.

“Dog slobber? That’s really what you would worry about? What about…dog parts?” I can hear her snort of disgust and ridicule from here.

“Well that’s part of the fantasy, isn’t it? Strange, thick cocks and penetration by something less than human. Why do you think these crazy fetishes work best as a fantasy when you’re alone in bed and want a good orgasm so you can fall asleep?”

“I have a man for that.” Gracie does, in fact, have an app.. I mean, man for that.

“Men get in the way of a really good orgasm. I have that blue, or is it purple…? thing for that. The one they paid me with instead of actual money. I bring it out once in awhile. Seems I should use it at least some times. I don’t use it for dog fantasies though.”

“Dragons?”, asks Gracie.

“Only once, so far. I did find a site that sells dragon dicks though. They were too expensive for me but a lot of fun to imagine. They had all kinds of shapes and sizes and colours too. Some of them actually squirted.”

“I’m surprised you didn’t find a way to get them to send you one.”

“Well, I thought that was a bit too extreme. But I did like the science of it.”

(To be continued, maybe).

Men’s Dress Shoes Need More Glamour

Originally posted to Sex Kitten. With a link to my site Divorce Darling - Romance, bondage and keeping my sparkle after divorce. I like doing things my own way.

Why is it so hard to find a shoe for men who want some glamour, pizazz and sexy to their shoe? Searching for men’s shoes with glamour gives me a lot of women’s shoes and the odd link for men. Not enough!

You may not want to go out dancing every night, or be especially flashy, but… it is nice to have the option and once in a while. It is nice to be a little flashy, turn some heads and surprise a few people into thinking you have a few surprises left.

So here are some choices with colour, flash and some life beyond the standard men’s shoes. Just to warn you, I was looking at shoes, not price tags, so they do come in a range of style and price.

Personally, I favour the red one I posted first. I love the colour! But, it’s also a slip on shoe and does not have a pointed or long toe. Enjoy the shoes!
