Rogue Taxidermy

Rogue taxidermy is the mixed media art of using stuffed and mounted animals which do not have real animal counterparts. Rogue taxidermy is mix and match (with accessories added) to create an artistic rendering of obscure, weird, creepy, mutant, and unique creatures to be put on display.

Many taxidermists do not consider this true taxidermy.

Taxidermy itself isn't for everyone. When it comes to rogue taxidermy especialy, there will be people who get squeamish and don't want to look and there will be people who get curious and just have to look. Then there are the people who think the more hideous the creations are the better they are.

The showmanship of oddities, mutation natural adaptation and displays of curiosity through use of taxidermy with animals. A creepy and odd hobby to some. Dark humour to others. Then there are those who just like to collect them and put them on display.

Beast Blender - where you can create your own curious creation.

If you aren't grossed out by some of the weirder creations... think about it. What if you could create an animal. I think this is part of the attraction of rogue taxidermy. Turning a slow, plodding animal like a turtle into a flying creature with light, colourful wings to take it to new heights and let it become something new, more than it was or could ever have been naturally.

In your mind, combine elements, features and parts of various animals and come up with a new creation, something better than the original version. Or, a creation which shows a sense of humour, like pigs that could fly.

The Legend of the Jackalope

What may be the most famous creation with rogue taxidermy is the jackalope.

According to legend and lore, the jackalope is the product of a male jackrabbit and a female antelope.Thought to be extinct, there are still reports of jackalope sightings. Jackalopes were known to be aggressive, often called the "warrior rabbit", using its antlers to fight.

Jackalopes were said to love music. They could mimic human sounds and noises and would sing along with the cowboys around the camp fires at night.

Jackalopes aren't a real animal, at least not so far. It's thought jackalopes were actual, real rabbits which had a mutation or virus causing bumps to appear on their heads. This could have appeared like antlers from a distance. Up close it would have been a simple explanation for the mystery of the weird looking rabbit.

Jackalopes became a legend as people began to produce "real" jackalopes to impress friends, create stories and generally enjoy tricking anyone who didn't already know the jackalope myth. Using a rabbit body and attaching deer or antelope antlers, people would show off their creation. Some jackalopes were given the bonus of a pheasant tail. Those were the extra fancy warrior bunnies.

An Ice Cream Maker All Shiny and New

If you had to think of your favourite kitchen appliance (not the big ones like an oven, fridge or dishwasher) which would you choose? Thinking about just this question I realized how very dull and boring my selection of kitchen appliances is. Other than a selection of coffee makers, I don't have any kitchen appliance more exciting than my toaster, blender and the hand mixer. Sad isn't it?

So, this post is going to be about the kitchen appliances I would like to have. Not for practical reasons, unless I can work a few in, but just because it would be nice to be one of those people with a glamorous kitchen and all the shiny appliances to go with it. I could have several of them lined up along the counter. Red, if possible.

The first choice is just plain all wrong for someone trying to lose weight and already an admitted ice cream addict. What could be more impractical than an ice cream making machine? It is a lovely shade of red though. Automatic too. Just pour in the ingredients and turn on the right knobs at the right time. There you go... fresh ice cream in your choice of flavour. It even makes sorbet and I bet it does that fancy Italian ice cream too. I've seen them make that one on the Food Network and I could almost taste it through the television.

After the ice cream maker my next choice would be a crock pot. You may think this is a good choice, something which could seem necessary rather than extravagant. But, in fact, it's mainly laziness. If I had a crock pot I could bring stuff out of the freezer, add something saucy to it and let it defrost/ cook all day long while I do something else, like make ice cream.

Beyond that, an electric knife and scissor sharpener would bring new life to my kitchen knives and sewing scissors. But, that's kind of practical for this list. A cotton candy machine, there's something to add glamour to my counter and not likely need to be cleaned after use. Not that I don't like cotton candy, but it I had my choice between cotton candy and ice cream...

At the Mercy of your Keyholder?

Originally posted to Sex Kitten.net.

This young lady is a real doll. I found her on Etsy, a shop called Shayne of the Dead.

I like her. She got me thinking about keyholders and those for whom the key is being held. When men read or fantasize about male chastity and wearing a chastity device, they skip so much of the sweet reality.

I’m not even getting into the comfort of wearing such a device or the ease of use when in the bathroom, or even when changing clothes. I’m sure there are other situations which (being a woman) I haven’t even thought of myself.

No, dear little men, I’m thinking about the terrible inconvenience of a keyholder who deliberately (not in any playful or teasing way at all) withholds your key. Perhaps she’s just a bitch, as so many men would like to say and leave themselves the poor blameless innocents. Let’s leave Fantasy Island and just accept the fact that there is shared blame and you might have gotten into this whole chastity and keyholder thing a bit too soon.

Now, here you are, locked up and no keyholder in sight. She isn’t even taking your calls, answering your emails and the hand written letter you sent (pleading for mercy) came back with “return to sender” written on it in thick, red ink.

Did you keep a back up key? What are the chances that you wanted the full experience of being a total submissive at her mercy, unable to do get out of your chaste bondage without her co-operation?

Wasn’t that stupid of you? You may be thinking that now. While you debate the ways to escape your predicament… let me lend you my time machine. It works on the web and will ship itself back to me the moment you have gone back in time and made sure you kept a copy of that very important key for yourself.

Of course, time machines are still science fiction. Sad, isn’t it?

If you are considering going into chastity, wearing a chastity device, proceed with caution and get out your common sense. Even if you know your keyholder very well (even if you tell your Mother some story and get her to keep your key, thinking it is a storage locker or something more ordinary) a key can be lost. A key can be misplaced or taken by someone else who doesn’t know what the key is for and decides it’s just junk. A keyholder can change her (or his) mind about you. So often people don’t want to face someone in that situation so they try to pretend you have just gone away, for a long walk off the planet. However it happens, your key may become lost to you.

Don’t let this situation happen to you. You can stash a back up key in your freezer where you will have to thaw it out. You can tape your key under your bed or to the back of your closet. Put it inside a sealed envelope to make yourself pause before just opening it for anything but an urgent reason. Use a balloon and push your key inside, you don’t even have to inflate the balloon. It will take more effort to get the key out if the balloon is not inflated. You can find other ways to hide a back up key from yourself, or make it less accessible.

What really matters is not being that guy who has to find a way to remove his cock from a chastity device by asking for outside help, like the hospital Emergency room, or a locksmith or friends who have more knowledge of tools but will never let you forget where their tools have been and the favour they did for you that day.

Some day I’d like to be a keyholder. I nearly was but we decided the distance was too far for safety and the fact that we wouldn’t see each other often enough to really have fun with it. I’d enjoy being an evil keyholder. It would be fun to let him think the key was gone or I’d postpone our meeting time for an extra day… all sorts of little adventures in keyholding. But, I do wonder about the losing the key thing. I’d want to have a really good back up plan myself if I were the keyholder.

I am a Shark Collector

In my own way, I am a shark collector.

I don’t keep stuffed sharks, whether real sharks or cotton stuffed. I don’t really have much at all to show for my shark collection. Not any more at least.

It still bugs me that my brother threw away the shark book I had been given for a long ago birthday. The book was published in 1976, full of paintings of sharks done by Richard Ellis.

I’d been thinking about the book this week, but I couldn’t remember the name of the book or the painter/ author. So I began digging online. I found it.

My Mother thought it was weird to have an interest in sharks, a predatory animal from the ocean. She tried to talk to me about it and talk me out of it. I knew I didn’t have a weird interest. I’m not planning to swimming with sharks, I don’t think about trying to make friends or pet sharks or hunt them or anything else really. I like to look at the sharks, in the photographs and paintings.

I think I like their sleek lines against the backdrop of the ocean. The ocean Richard Ellis paints is quiet, sparkling and bouncing with light hitting the water and the smooth looking shark coasting through the water. I also like the photos of sharks in the waves and crashing ocean. Yes, we know they are dangerous, but there’s more to them. They are a quiet, skilled predator, at home in their universe.

Have you had a book which sticks in your mind due to the loss of the book? Is it worthwhile buying the book again, even if it isn’t about collecting it as much as being able to see and read it again?

I thought about getting another copy of the book. But, it seems unfair when I did have one. So, I decided to leave it. A book unopened, sort of. However, if I see the book somewhere else, like a thrift store, I might get it. This is an emotional decision rather than anything base on logic. Don’t judge me, as they say when they know they have given the appearance of being loopy.

So, at the moment, my shark collection is all online. Available to be shared with anyone who follows the link on Snip.it. (Note: Snip.it closed their service).
