The Tree Stands Alone

The snowy tree across from the bus stop. Kind of a sad looking tree with branches hacked off to make room for the modern power lines. Funny how we are now, at this late date, getting the media alert about global warming. Now, when it’s frighteningly obvious we have put the planet into danger by our thoughtlessness or self-centredness.… Read the rest

Sickly Grrl Coming to a Shopping Mall Near You

I can’t breathe, I’m coughing, I ache everywhere and I feel so drained I could be sucked through the floor at any moment. I had a fever but luckily I found some Tylenol to take care of that. Whoever did this to me… I curse you and all your germs. I really don’t know how I got sick when I’ve almost been living like a hermit.… Read the rest

Short for Impact

The best quotes are those that dazzle and enlighten with one sentence. That quick one two punch that leaves you thinking. Quotes wandering along into two, three or more sentences loose their power. You have to read them and think as you’re reading. It spoils the effect.

Caramel Tea

I’m not a real tea drinker, sometimes I like Earl Grey or something herbal and interesting. Today I came home with Lipton’s Caramel Twist tea. I’ve got it brewing. Isn’t brewing a coffee word though. I know they brew beer but do they really brew tea too? It just doesn’t seem like a real, official brewing situation.… Read the rest

St Patrick’s Day Cards!

St. Patrick’s Day is one of my favourite, under appreciated holidays. My Grandmother was Irish. She and my Aunt Alice and the other sisters were born in County Cork. I’ve never been there. The holiday is always a special time for me, to think about family and all the stories I heard about Ireland and the old traditions.Read the rest

To Dream… of Pickles…

It’s going to be another exciting day of grocery shopping tomorrow. I am looking at the current financial situation and I might be able to do the going out for breakfast thing too. I love that, all the great breakfast aroma and none of the dishes to wash after. What could be better than that? Well, a lot of things, but lets not get all complicated.… Read the rest
