Free CA Tax Clinics
Too late for this year, but this is a link to keep on hand for next year. If your income is low you can get a volunteer CA to do your taxes for free. Most people with low income will have a simple tax return anyway, but if you are a freelance writer this may be a good way of catching write offs you didn’t know about.
Each year since 1969, Free CA Tax Clinics are held across Ontario from mid-February until the end of March. Hundreds of volunteer Chartered Accountants and their associates help thousands of low-income people by preparing their income tax returns, free of charge.
To qualify for this free tax return assistance, total household income must be below $22,500 with dependents or below $15,000 without dependents. Also, individuals with rental income and/or business income do not qualify for the Free CA Tax Clinics program, regardless of the amount of income.
I think it’s wonderful. I found the link today while looking for a friend of my brother who is a CA. He was one of the volunteers listed for the 2005 program. Yeah Richard. 🙂
